My wife has been in college over the last year having given up her full time job. I am now the only earner in the family and we have 2 children.

Does anyone know if I am entitled to any benefits/allowances for this change in circumstances? It is a fee paying course over 4 years and we've taken out a bank loan to cover this.

You may be entitled to tax back on the tuition fees depending on the specific details of the course etc.

You should request a P21 balancing statement for the year in which she stopped working in case you are owed any tax back.

Can't think of anything else offhand.

Would you be entitled to FIS ie. Income less than €570 after tax, Prsi, and superanuation.

What about a medical card or GP visit card

If filling up a medical/GP card application remember to include your loan

i got a 250 cheque back for my college fees. i will get this per year so it is worth looking into the tuition fees :) it comes in very handy

Sorry - I was referring to Soldier's post. Where the €250 came from is unclear. I presume that it's tax relief on qualifying tuition fees.
