Why don't TD's in Ireland register with the data commissioner?

As the title says why don't those Td's who collect and store private information such as email and who in turn use this to promote themselves, register with the data commissioner?

In the past ministers in the Uk have been fined so why not here?

Does the legislation say they have to ? I seem to recall a few TDs kicking up over the Bill and it was amended to allow TDs (and perhaps others for political purposes) collate this info.

It allows more focused canvassing and targeting of constituents.

So the same law is interpreted differently in different countries? Mmm....

If you ask a TD NOT to email you and remove your contact details from their database and if they don't do this, are they in breach of the data protection act?
