Hi,

One of the conditions on the contents insurance I'm looking at for my apartment has the following condition:

"Any door giving access to your property must be fitted with mortise deadlocks or deadlocking rim latches."

Can anyone tell me what exactly these locks are?

My apartment door just has the lock that was originally installed - how likely is it that fits the description?

well without knowing what your lock on your door looks like we're not going to know if it's a mortice or not, so have a look at this and see if your lock matches any of these.

I can't post a direct link but if you go to thelocksmith.ie and the mortice deadlock page you'll see what i mean.
