What constitutes a 4 day week for JB?

Hi all,

Our employer says he has placed us on short-time and said he would give us a 3 day week if he could but it's more like part-time as we're only getting a day or two here and there as he gets in some work. Our working week would have been normally Mon-Fri but I think the Social Welfare week is from Thursday-Wednesday and I'm just wondering what constitutes a 4 day week for Jobseekers Benefit.

For instance, if I got work on Thursday and Friday this week and the following Monday and Tuesday, would that disqualify me from a Jobseekers Benefit payment for that week under the 4 day rule, as it is within the Thursday-Wednesday week? I am concerned as technically I would only receive 2 days pay from my employer for each of his working weeks and would miss out on the welfare to top up my income.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your attention.

Tom.

You get SW for any 3 days unemployed in any 6 (counting back or forward). Sunday is not counted as a day of unemployment for SW purposes.
