Hi psawyer76,
This plan is sufficient for 98% of medical needs in public and private hospitals, once you don't require a hip or knee replacement surgery any
time soon. There's only 60% cover for this type of surgery which could be an issue for an older person.
Alternative options to keep in mind, say for down the road, as follows;
1. Laya Essential Health 300; price 895pa; all public, private and some hi-tech hospital cover included, private hospital excess 300 x 2 per year
for all admissions, day case excess 125 per procedure. All orthopaedic surgery fully covered in private hospitals on this plan.
2. Laya Control 300 Create; price 1042pa; all public, private(including private room covered) and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private excess 300 per private/hi-tech admission, day case excess 125 per procedure, good day to day cover included - refund 30 per gp visit, 80 per consultant visit, dental etc.

For the 2 children, I would switch them to VHI One Plan 150 @ price 130pa. For 2 euro extra each, it means a lower excess 150 x 2 max per year for admissions or day case in the Beacon hospital Dublin. This hi-tech hospital offers childrens surgery and procedures which may be a valuable
option if required.
One Plan 150; price 130pa; all public, private and Beacon hospital covered, private excess 150 x 2 max per year for admissions or day case procedures. Same as One Plan 250 but with a lower excess of 150, for practically the same price.

Note; children can be VHI on their own, without an adult if required.
