Other Travel Insurance Needed??

Hi,

Couple early 30's travelling east coast of Australia and parts of Thailand/Malaysia for 8 weeks in total. We have health Insurance which covers for 70,000Euro overseas emergency cover.We are travelling light so if we lose or get our bags stolen wont be a major issue...Is there any point in us getting travel insurance,ive gotten quotes around the 130Eur mark to cover us?

Any thoughs/advice?

you might want it for delayed/cancelled flights or indeed for repatriation if one or other needs to be brought back to Ireland in air ambulance or worse, if either dies and you want the body/ashes brought home.

I would most definitely take out travel insurance for that long a trip and across a few continents. you never know what could go wrong.

FYI, the Irish and Australian Governments have a reciprocal healthcare agreement in place where Irish residents are entitled to free pbulic hospital care. - http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/public/migrants/visitors/ireland-nz.jsp.

If you were to get sick and be unable to travel to Australia, travel insurance would cover this. So it may also be a consideration.
