My work is moving me permanently to the US (I am a US citizen). I have a private pension with my company and would like to transfer it.
Im told this is not allowed unless the pension it is going into doesn't allow withdrawal before retirment (rare in the US I believe). I'm working with my company to see if such a thing exists.
My question is about my wife (Irish citizen) who has two previous pension amounts accrued with her two last jobs. What are her options as she would only be able to transfer them to a retirement accoutn that allows limited withdrawals etc.?
What happens at retirement if I still have a pension in Ireland? Does the whole thing get transferred at retirement age?
