Hi ,
We have engaged an Architect & Engineer to provide drawings for the renovation of our kitchen /dining room - It will consist of a very small extension and a structural wall will be removed. We also have a few additional jobs we would like to get done at the same time - upstairs bathroom refit, banisters replaced etc.. For each builder to quote on the work required should we just send them the drawings we have and have them call over to discuss all requirements such that they provide us then with a breakdown/ costing ? Or is there a template we should use to breakdown the requirements first ? Any guidance is greatly appreciated...

Suzyann,

Personally, I would invite each builder to submit a cost for the works specified in the drawings and then narrow it down to 2 - based on price/references/local recommendations.
Assuming they come onsite to view location/access/etc, I would ask them to also quote for both ripping out and disposal of the bathroom & banisters and the installation of new (also assuming you'd choose and purchase your own suite and banister yourself).

You could of course have the architect add the list of extras to the original tender but imo, it's always good idea to meet any tradesman face to face before employing them.
