Hello,

Im soon heading off to work in bermuda as a trades man. I wondering does any one know what the tax implications are for me making money over there.

I presume ill pay tax over there, but do i pay tax on the money i bring back, ( double taxation ).

Is there a way around it, so to speak legally. Should i register myself as a contractor before i go over there?

You will need to seek specific advice on the taxes payable in Bermuda.

If you are non resident in Ireland you will not be liable to pay tax in Ireland, but you need to basically stay out of Ireland for 183 days in a year and 280 days in a tax year and the previous tax year to become non-resident.

You will not be taxable in Ireland on the funds you bring back, but only taxable based on your residence position.

I have assumed that you are Irish resident at the moment and Irish domiciled.

The position may be different if you are non-Irish domiciled.

I am irish , So basically stay out of ireland for the 183 days?

Pay what ever tax is over there? And any funds i bring back might have a tax on them ? cause im a resident.

If i stay out of the country for 280 days it makes me a non resident.

Ive i picked that up right?
