Taking on a new employee

Hi Folks,

We have taken on someone part in the company. She will be working about 10-12 hours a week over two days.

Whats the story with revenue? How do I register that we have employed her?
also, I don't know if this matters, but since she is working part time she is also drawing social welfare.

Any suggestions please?

Hi Killter

You will find it all in the Revenue's "Employer's Guide to PAYE".

She will not be entitled to Social Welfare on the days she is working, but that is not your concern directly.

If she has been long-term unemployed you might get some special treatment e.g. a lower rate of employer's PRSI.
