SSIA top up in pension

Can somebody confirm if my wife can avail of the SSIA top up if she does not work.
I read that it is in the form of a tax credit, could she get the credit and then pass it to me.
 
Yes she can. I just had a discussion with somebody last night who was confused that some tax credits (e.g. SSIA top-up, mortgage interest relief, private health insurance relief etc.) apply even to individuals who don't pay tax. The terminology is confusing but in this specific case the SSIA to pension top-up tax credit is actually aimed at people like your wife and other no/low paid individuals.
 
Sorry - I meant to say that she can avail of this even if she is not working/earning if the normal qualification criteria for the married couple are met. Apologies for any confusion caused.
