Sole Trader - Allowable expenses

A friend works as an IT contractor from her own offices and is wondering about claiming expenses. A few specific questions:

Can she claim car insurace/AA/petrol/parking? Presumably this is to the extent used in business. ie travel to client meetings etc? How is this apportioned in practise?

Can she claim charity donations?

Any help would be greatly appreciated....
