Separation and Maintenance Requirement

We are currently about to finalise a separation agreement. My wife of 7 years is disabled and has never worked. As part of the final agreement,
she will receive a 35,000 euro lump sum for her share of the value of the family home (which we are selling).

  1. Will i be liable to make ongoing maintenance payments to her?
  2. Can she claim social welfare?
  3. If i make a payment of what i can afford i.e. 100 euro per week- will she be eligible to get social welfare to make up the balance
    of what she needs?
  4. Can she make application for housing to local authority?

    Thanks

Thanks ClubMan

Unfortunately, in this case i need to know re social welfare rules and will she qualify for council house and benefits?

Many thanks

Have you tried checking the qualification criteria for the relevant welfare benefits on the DSFA site? I think only the local authority can clarify the qualification criteria for council housing and how an applicant's means might be taken into consideration.
