I am well aware of ths perils of moving money out of the euro (transaction costs and fluctuations in exchange rates), but I am considering setting up a foreign currency account with NIB, only to use in an extreme situation etc.
Any view on what is the "safest" non- euro currency to go into-
Dollar? Sterling? Swiss Franc? Yen? etc. I hear people going on about various scandinavian currencies but these have a peg to the euro? Is this a reason to NOT go into them?
