Rogue solicitors very expensive for the profession!

The Irish Times reports that the Compensation Fund of the Law Society has paid out:

2011: €3.69m
2012: €4.3m
2013:€2.85m
2014: €3.83m
2015: €2.29m

It costs each solicitor in practice €760 a year.

If I were a solicitor I would be very annoyed at the defaulting solicitors.

The fund stands at €7m.

Indeed. But were all avenues addressed to get the crooked solicitors concerned to pay up out of their own means?, as would be the case with "simple folk". I don't know too many poor solicitors, in fact I don't know any. What's to stop one of them from running away with the €7m that's in the fund, assuming there might be a few of them on them board of trustees?
