Does revenue do audits just after the filed returns are submitted and when they have issued notice of assesment or do they carry them out any time

Audits are ongoing, they are targetted and random. It's an odd question, what is worrying you about being audited?

The scheduling of Revenue audits has nothing whatsoever to do with the timing of returns submission (assuming of course the returns in question were filed on time) or issue of notices of assessment.

Almost all audits are targetted in some from or other but the criteria for audit candidate selection, which are incorporated into an automated program called REAP, are opaque.
