Hi,

I am looking to get some advice for my friend 2 adults renewing on glo health better pro plan.
Total cost after deductions €2446.

One may need a knee replacement so have to consider this also.

I don't know anything about health insurance so wondering is this a good price for the plan or if anyone knows a similar plan that's a bit cheaper.

All advice appreciated.

Cheers
Rob

robbie00,

There are a number of alternative options worth considering with different providers.

Similar cover but cheaper plans with Glohealth as follows;
1. Better Plan Smart Cash; price 1222pa, same hospital cover, better day to day cover.
2. Better Plan Select Cash; price 1245pa, same hospital cover, better day to day cover.

Note; with Glohealth there is a 2000 co-payment for knee replacement surgery in private hospitals.
There is no co-payment for orthopaedic surgery with Laya healthcare.
VHI have 80% cover for orthopaedic surgery in private/hi-tech hospitals but if you choose Mater Private or Blackrock Clinic for this surgery there
is no shortfall as these 2 hi-tech hospitals don't pass on this charge to the patient.

Alternative options with Laya healthcare;
1. Simplicity Plan; price 1087pa; same hospital cover as before, extra cover for a private room in a private hospital, excess 100 x 2 max per annum, good day to day cover - first 100 not allowed.
2. Simply Connect Plus; price 1210pa; same hospital cover as before, excess 150 x 1 max per year, good day to day cover - 1 euro excess -
max allowed per year 500.

Alternative options with VHI;
1. PMI 44 16; price 1050pa; same hospital cover as before, 150 excess per admission, extra cover for a private room in a private hospital,
no day to day cover.
2. PMI 43 16; price 1136; same hospital cover as before, 150 excess per admission, good day to day cover - 1 euro excess.

Note; VHI plans have 80% cover for orthopaedic surgery in private hospitals, if you choose hi-tech hospitals Mater Private and Blackrock Clinic
for this type of surgery there is no shortfall or co-payment to pay.

Plenty of alternatives with similar cover at cheaper prices.

Thanks Snowyb that's great ill start looking into all of them and see which is the best for them to pick. Great to see there are cheaper options available to them with nearly the same cover.
