Hi there,

I am looking for recommendations for an accountant who specialises in revenue, tax, land and shares in Dublin?

Thanking you in advance

In brief;

Most accountants in practice carry the letters ACCA (/FCCA) or ACA (/FCA) after their name. They can also give tax advice.

Some accountants do specialised tax exams and can carry the letters AITI &/ CTA after their name. I would use a firm or accountants with AITI.

The best are in the Big-4 but you pay tip-dollar for that advice.

Haven't you a conflict of interest in saying this?

I am a qualified accountant and a qualified tax advisor. So I can comment on both?

For accountancy related questions, I would go to someone with Accountancy letters and for a tax-question I would choose someone with Tax qualification letters ... ... hope that helps.

I don' propose to get into any arguments over which of the accountancy bodies are better. But if I have a tax problem, I go to a tax advisor. If I have a medical problem, I go to a doctor.

You can comment all you wish, but if you specifically recommend an AITI advisor, you should add that you are an AITI advisor, and therefore have a conflict of interest.

Btw, who ever goes to an advisor with "accountancy related questions"?

This reminds me of the recent debate that in order to be fair and balanced, RTE should always have someone of the opposing viewpoint.

But I do take your point and should have stated it. An oversight on my part - I have stated it on other threads, which is presumably where you picked up on my oversight.

You're an accountant yourself ?! Surely you know this? (I would have thought more than a few who prepare their books at home and need help bringing them to finalisation?)

I don't actually. We don't often see people going to one professional to get their accounts finalised and another to get their tax returns done on foot of the contents of their accounts.
