Hi All,

I am a PAYE worker but did some extra work for another company in 2016 for which I earned approx €10k. When do I need to declare this to revenue, is it by Oct 31st 2017?

Thanks

Correct, and if you file online I think the deadline is something like 7th November but check revenues website yourself for details.

Also consider doing a pension AVC in order to reduce your tax liability on the 10k if you wanted to do that.

Out of interest, how do you bill a company when you do work like this?
I assume you do not have your own company set up.
Is it just a matter of producing an invoice with your name on it and an amount for the work?

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, correct, I do not have my own company setup so I just send in an invoice for the hours worked and they pay me the gross amount.

I like the idea of making a pension AVC to offset the tax. I'm not sure if this is complicated by the fact that my pension is associated with my primary employer? I've never done an AVC so will follow up on how this is done
