passing property title on to grandchildren

My grandmother (deceased) made a will stating that the family home would be inherited by her daughter (my mother) and then pass directly onto me and my sister. The title to the property was never changed into my mothers name, but presumably she is the legal owner now? If she (mother) does not change the title would that effect the property passing on to us grandchildren eventually ?
