Open business as Sole Trader

I want to start an online business(home based) that sources products from
China. Products would be classified as Textiles.

I am not going to importing huge amounts, ie no containers. It would be small enough(say a large box load) I want to start small and work my up!

I dont want to set up a LTD but would rather a Sole Trader.

I have registered the domain (.com) but do I still need to register with CRO even though its not a company?

Also-about importing items of this size-any advice? It all sounds so messy with Freight forwarders, FOB, customs etc. For me i want to keep it really simple and cheap. I asked a supplier for a catalogue of their products and they advised me it would cost US65 to send....crazy!

Was thinking of setting up a DHL account and getting them to do everything.

Thanks in advance!

Regarding your query about registration

CRO
You need to register a business name (form BN1) if you are not trading under your own name.

You will have to register with the Revenue Commissioners (form TR1 - as a sole trader) when you are ready to commence to trade.

The other queries, I'm afraid I can't answer.
