Offshore account question

Hi,

I am a bit spooked by the state of the eurozone economy, this country, our public finances, and the seeming incompetence of the governement.

I am thinking of opening up an offshore account, possibly in the Isle of Mann (due to their investor compensation scheme) denominated in Euro, for the purposes of giving some of my savings a safe home. I have about 50k to deposit.

Can anyone recommend a bank? account type? it will be primarly a savings type of account.

Many thanks,

D

Make sure you declare to revenue that you have accounts offshore if you do go ahead !!!

Irish Nationwide and Anglo have operations there and pay good rates.

INBS only state in their terms http://www.iniom.com/documents/terms.pdf "
The Bank only accepts customers who are of sound mind and who
meet our application eligibility requirements
1.2 In particular accounts are not available to residents of certain
countries."
so unless you're bonkers, you should be able to open an account with them !

Rates are at
http://www.iniom.com/product_rates.asp

Anglo IOM offer the following rates [broken link removed]
