Not allowed cancel my Avc's

HR opened the benefit system for work first of January and I put down the max avc's for the coming year but now I have bought a house so I want to cancel the avc's but they will not allow this.
Legally can they do this?

Of course they can't. Have you told them they are Additional Voluntary Contributions and you no longer volunteer to make these contributions.

I have never heard something so stupid. Don't waste your time arguing with these fools. Go directly to the Financial Controller, Head of Finance etc and tell them the situation.
