Medical card and private pension lump sum

Hello.
At the moment I am a medical card holder with a fixed income (€28,000) that has us under the tax band.
My wife is my carer and in receipt of the carers allowance.
We have a bit of savings but nothing over €10,000.
We live in council housing and have no other means of income.

I will be in receipt of a fixed pension from the middle of this year which will be under €30,000 a year.
I will also get a fairly significant lump sum payment (€80,000) at the end of the year when I go
onto the private pension scheme. I am not entitled to a state contributory pension.
My questions are (A) Will we lose the medical card and carers allowance.
(B) Can we spend our lump sum and still qualify for medical card etc.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi, have a look at citizen's information under carers allowance that should answer your question in relation to carers allowance.
