home insurance question for a dummy

Currently have house insured with EBS thru the mortgage, its costing about 450 quid. I do know that I can get it far cheaper elsewhere just not sure what to insure, house is mid terrace worth 400k contents of any valuable lap top, few tv’s, no women in house so no jewelry.

Suggestions for how much contents to insure would be much appreciated
 
Have you read the many threads on home insurance - for example here? You can find more by searching/browsing. Shop around as widely as possible, check the detailed terms & conditions to make sure that the cover is suitable for your needs, different policies have different Ts&Cs so don't choose on price alone, and make sure to insure for the reinstatement and not the market value (see [broken link removed]).
