Laya Help with replacing Laya's Flex 125 Plus policy (for similar cover, but at cheaper cost) ?

Hello,

I was hoping to get some assistance with finding a cheaper alternative to Laya's Flex 125 Plus policy please.

The policy is required for a woman in her mid 60s who generally enjoys good health, is reasonably fit for her age, not overweight, has never had any serious health issues, but was a smoker for over 40 years (she finally quit about 12-18 months ago).

While a similar level of cover at cheaper cost would be the preference, some concessions could be made on cover or inpatient excess etc., subject to cost savings.

Having spent a little time on the HIA website, the likes of the VHI Health Access plan might suit (although would ideally like a little more cover on private hospitals), or Irish Life Health Plan 18 / 19 etc.

Many thanks,

Hi MrEarl,

The Flex 125 Plus plan she is on at the moment, is gone way over-priced at 1735pa for the level of hospital cover included.
The following Laya plans are well worth considering, including day to day cover at cheaper prices.

1. Laya Simply Connect; price 1179pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private/hi-tech excess 150 x 2 max per year regardless
of the total amount of admissions, day case excess 50 per procedure. Good day to day cover; 50% refund per gp, consultant, dental, physio
visits etc. Max day to day refund; 50% of 1000 medical expenses = 500pa.

2. Laya Simply Connect Plus; price 1250pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private/hi-tech excess 150 x 1 max per year
regardless of the total amount of admissions, day case excess 50 per procedure. Good day to day cover; 50% refund per gp, consultant, dental,
physio visits etc. Max day to day refund; 50% of 2000 medical expenses = 1000.

3. Laya Simplicity Plan; price 1191pa; all public, private(including private room fully covered) + 3 hi-tech hospitals covered,
private/hi-tech excess 100 x 2 max per year regardless of the total amount of admissions, day case excess 50 per procedure.
Day to day cover included, the first 100 not allowed. 50% refund of gp, consultant, dental, physio visits etc.
Max day to day refund 7650 per year.

Options 1 and 2 are similar plans, only difference is the total refund for day to day expenses 500 vs 1000. Also the private hospital excess
which is capped at 150 x 2 or 150 x 1 max per year.
If she would prefer a private room in private hospitals, Simplicity plan fully covers this option at a similar cost.

Irish Life plans have a 2000 co payment for hip and knee replacement surgery in private hospitals, which is not applicable on Laya plans.
For someone in their mid 60s, this type of surgery could be required in future years.

Control 600 Connect @ 852 is a good plan for hospital cover, if she is ok with the 600 excess amount PER admission in a private hospital.
