Hi - Hoping someone can give me advice - my mother died last year - she did not make a will - my mother had a baby by another man before she was married to my father. My grandparents legally adopted my half brother as their own. my question is - is my half brother legally entitled to any of my mothers estate

The short answer is no, not in the circumstances as you outline them. Children adopted into a family are treated as siblings with biological children of the deceased, those adopted out are treated as biological issue of the adoptive parents. I am not a lawyer, but I think that's a simple summary of Irish law. "What ifs" and "what abouts", sin scéal eile!
