gas central heating and water

Is it OK to have the gas central heating on when there is no water coming in? There seems to be some up in the attic as the upstairs taps have water and the toilet flushes but no fresh water coming in to the house

OK I think my water is back. I hear the tank filling upstairs and i have water in the kitchen sink.
Does the water into the kitchen come from the same pipe that the upstairs tank fills from or how does it work. thanks

Yes the cold tap in the kitchen is off the same pipe as the tank/s in the attic.
