England ... what a poor, ill-disciplined, unskilled, ungentlemanly, unsportsmanlike rugby team

What a rubbish rugby team and management group.

Not much of an attacking plan against Ireland while being deeply offensive from a violence and dirty play perspective.

Their recent disciplinary record is such that World rugby may deem it necessary to start banning them from competitions to safeguard opponents from serious injury or worse.

It seems Steve Borthwick's only regret is that he can't pick from a panel of Dylan Hartleys, who's disciplinary record looks like this:

Weeks banned:
  • 2007: 26 weeks
  • 2012: 8 weeks
  • 2012: 2 weeks
  • 2013: 11 weeks
  • 2014: 3 weeks
  • 2015: 4 weeks
  • 2016: 6 weeks
Hartley had a significant number of disciplinary problems in matches amounting to a total of 60 banned weeks in his career involving verbal assault on match officials and physical assaults on opponents.

Sorry my original post wasn't clearer and more specific, which is probably why it was deleted.

Did he say that?

English Rugby is in a terrible state, mainly because their Clubs are in competition with the English RFU. Their national team is under performing to a remarkable level.
That doesn't mean that their players are inherently dirty , it just means that the team isn't functioning properly.

The despicable behaviour of the ERFU around the Owen Farrell red card is a different matter.

Look at the number of red and yellow cards dished out against them. There's a cynicism about their play that is breathtaking. They finished the match against Wales with just 12 players on the field.

If they can't play within the laws of the game and win, plan B seems to be to injure as many of their opponents as possible. If the RFU can't clean up their act with the national team, then some higher authority needs to step into the disciplinary breach.

Lots of cards is usually a sign of a poorly coached or unskilled team rather than a policy. The All Blacks are the only team I have ever seen that will go out to injure someone and has a policy of cheating.

for MANY years there was a fear of punishing New Zealand for their dirty tactics as they were such a strong voice in world rugby. It's only in the last number of years that the aura around that team is diminishing.
Looking back to that Irish game in Dublin back in 2016 (I think - the game after we beat them in Soldiers Field) - they showed their true colours that day.

They showed their true colours numerous times. The spear tackle on O'Driscoll and the smug unapologetic reaction of their players, management and media being the example that stands out for me. I don't think there's an English player who would stoop that low, not even the New Zealand born and bred Dylan Hartley.

As bad as England are at the moment, I have feeling that they might still manage to get to the semis...Argentina aren't great shapes and if they beat them, they will probably play Wales and who knows..

"England will be without Owen Farrell and Billy Vunipola for the start of the World Cup after both players received bans on a day of huge disruption for Steve Borthwick’s team.

Farrell, the England captain, received a four-match suspension at a ten-hour disciplinary hearing on Tuesday that will rule him out of the World Cup pool matches against Argentina and Japan.

Vunipola, the only specialist No 8 in the squad, was handed a three-match ban at his hearing on Tuesday night after he was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Andrew Porter in England’s defeat by Ireland last weekend."
