EBS Debit Card. Maximum Daily Spend.

I have an EBS debit card. Yesterday I was renewing both my own Health Insurance and my wife's health Insurance with Laya over the phone. The first payment went through OK but the second payment was refused, even though I had sufficient funds in my account. I rang the EBS and was told that the maximum daily spend on my EBS debit card is €2000.

Is this the same for everybody with EBS and do all debit cards have a daily spend limit.

Yes, and yes.

EBS has the lowest limit at 2k per day.
Then PTSB 2,500
AIB 5k per transaction, 7,100 max per day
BOI I understand is 25k limit.

The limit is per card, not account. So a joint account with 2 cards you can double the limit.

Thanks. I didn't know that. We could have used my wife's card on the same account for her purchase. In the end I just used an AIB credit card and it all worked fine.

Good to know for next year. (If I remember).
