I was driving my father’s vehicle, it’s a UK registered, taxed & insured car as he lives in the UK. I drove into a customs check point in Donegal and they impounded the vehicle as I live here. The now want my dad to pay 500 euro to return the vehicle to him, they said as an Irish resident I’m not allowed to drive the car……are they correct? I had only temporarily borrowed his vehicle and I’m a named driver on his insurance so I thought I’d be fine.
