I have shares for mostly Irish companies (also have some British ones) and pay the relevant DWT on the Irish shares and UK taxes on the British ones. I am on the PAYE system, although retired and on a pension. I want to check if I need to disclose the dividends - (not a big sum) for these as part of PAYE ? I understood as I was paying tax on them there was no need, but I want to be sure. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Absolutely, you must declare them.

Your gross dividend income on Irish shares is taxed at your marginal rate. You deduct a credit for the DWT paid.

The UK dividends are a bit more complicated, but the principle is the same. You must declare them and you get some partial credit.

But if you are over 65 and total income (including divs.) is under 20,000 single or 40,000 married you may entitled to a refund of the DWT

Thanks Brendan & Black sheep for your advice. Ijust assumed coz I was paying tax on them I didn't need to do anything.
