What is the difference between assignment and conveyance? A family friend who is a landlord was under the impression their property had been sold onto a vulture fund, but when they want to the register of deeds, they said it just had been assigned to the fund. Does that mean they still own the property or does the fund? A receiver was involved and they never told them the property was sold until they went onto the PPR 18 months after the receiver had been appointed to see their property listed as sold.
On the registry of deeds print out the vacate/satisfaction column is empty. Does that mean the property was never sold onto the fund? I know their mortgage with the 'residual debt' was sold onto a vulture fund.
