I have been buying various gold mining stocks over the last 6 months and have been caught out a couple of times with regard to Degiros fees. Yes my fault for not fully understanding them before purchasing !!!
Transaction charges when trading on the Canadian or US stock markets using Degiro can be very expensive.
The charge is 2 euro per transaction plus USD 0.01 per share. so buying thousands of shares of a very cheap stock means a v high charge. For example buying 10,000 euros worth of company X at 10 cents per share. I.e. 100,000 shares. Transaction charge is 2 euro plus (100,000 X 0.01 = 1,000 USD).
