I have recently been declared bankrupt by the courts in Canada. The application included all my Irish debts as I have been living here for 7 years.
How do I go about getting it recognized in Ireland

How old is your debt and when did you start to default?

I presume, Irish banks have being notified depending on the debt age it could have being
sold and whom ever bought it has no idea you're bankrupt.

Here in lies the problem with filing for bankruptcy outside the country you have debt in, the court systems do
not have any methods to update credit registers outside the country you apply in.

Yes, you are debt free you may find yourself having to notify everyone you had debt with of your
bankruptcy you'll also have to try and have your credit report updated too.

The Canadian Insolvency Trustee should notify your Irish creditors directly.

The Trustee should also send notification of your bankruptcy to the Official Assignee so that he may update the Bankruptcy Register which he maintains.
