CORE website crashing

Anyone else having problems completing B1 online today? System has crashed 4-5 times at this stage which is obviously very frustrating given that this the deadline day for filing ARDs for 31-Dec year-ends

It's an absolute joke at this stage. If the Director of Corporate Enforcement is going to insist on audits for companies which are late filing their return then the least they could do is make sure that their website can handle the extra traffic on the biggest deadline day of the year.

+1

An embarrassing situation here only 20 minutes ago as a worried company director waited interminably for a form to process so he could bring it away for signing. I had to send him away empty-handed and hoping for the best before evening.

Accounting firms are fools to put up with the nonsense we get from the CRO, ODCE etc.

I phoned the CRO there so they are aware of the problem and said to keep an eye on the CRO website and they will put any notices up there

It's pathetic really that we have recently passed the largest piece of legislation in the history of the state with the Companies Act 2014 which is supposed to prioritise the importance of the small company. But the CRO still lobbied to retain the ridiculously punitive situation where a company loses that exemption for 2 years if their annual return is late, the ONLY country in Europe to have this clause. All so the CRO can get a pat on the back thanks to their high compliance rates.

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing yesterday or even last week!
CORE doesn't really work like that. When you file an annual return online, you are in effect buying an extra 28 days to get your signed paper return and abridged accounts in to the CRO. If you do it early, you lose that time.

It's not much of a problem the rest of the year - except that the penalties for making an error are grossly disproportionate - but 28 October is always a critical day as it's the last day in the year that you can file a return that can be accompanied by a set of accounts for the calendar year 2015.
