Child in front seat?

Just wondering about the legal position of having a child in the front of a commercial jeep (only 2 seats). Child in car seat. Is there an age limit or does anyone know what the law is on this?

If the child is an infant in a removable car seat faced towards the back of the car, then assuming the jeep is relatively new it will come fitted with airbags - which will do serious damage to the child in the event of a crash. All the car seat manufacturers advise against this.

No idea about the legal position.

Legally, a child under 12 years of age and/or 150cm height may not travel in a front seat except in a properly fitted child seat. See [broken link removed].

Thanks for your replies. Child is almost 3 now and always travels in forward facing child seat. Seems its ok 'til she outgrows the car seat. Not sure what we'll do then
