It depends if you are a private or a medical card patient.
If you're a private patient, you can just register with a new doctor, if they are taking new patients on.
If you have a medical card, you will have to get a Change of Doctor form, and apply to a new GP who is willing/able to take you on.
It would be worthwhile going to a number of surgeries, to get a feel for them: are the reception staff helpful (a good sign), is there an appointment system, how many doctors work there, do the surgery opening hours suit you, what services do the surgeries offer etc.
You will not be able to get recommendations for specific doctors on AAM, I think (correct me if this is incorrect)
