Casual work and claiming for credits

I have been a stay at home Mum for 2 and a half yrs. My hubby works so I am not entitled to JSA or any other payment.
However I do still need to claim to keep my "stamp" credits up to date.
I started working for an agency last week and informed SW office. I popped in this week to ask what I do now as I did not work this week. They told me that I will need to apply to keep my stamps up to date (which I have done) but if I get a days work from the agency next week my claim will be stopped, then I need to re-apply the following week if I get work again. Surely there MUST be an easier way for me to work casually AND get my stamps kept up to date without having to fill in the 10 or 12 page application form every week I do not work. It seems crazy to me?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
