Hello all,

I am a 32 year old male.

I recieved my full Irish licence in 2001.

I was insured in Ireland in my own name from 2000 to 2006 with absolutely no claims or issues whatosever.

Since 2006 I have been living in US.

For 2 years I had a US insurance policy.

The rest of the time I have been driving rentals.

In 2007 while parking at my apartment I hit a pillar. There was no other car involved so it was not an accident as such.

Anyway I got damage repaired under insurance which cost $1600.

I will shortly be looking for insurance in ireland.

I cant seem to get an online quote as I do not have an irish insurance policy at the moment.

Whare is the best place to me to go for car insurance?

What impact will the small $1600 claim have on me, if any?

Advice is appreciated.

were you driving your own car or a rental car at time of accident? if a rental one, then you should be able to get proof of no claims bonus from your US insurers. with that document, you could always approach your previous Irish insurers and they may give you a full NCB.
