I have been doing a lot of searching tonight (and entering data) for car renewal.

The 2 lowest quotes were from:
BestQuote (Creane and Creane)
NoNonsense

Other quotes from Insure, AA, 123, Chill, OneDirect were anything between €100 and €190 more expensive.

Is there any more companies I should try from anyone's experience?

25plus were around €50 more expensive than the 2 cheapest.

Haven't tried Tesco yet.

We are part of a broker network called Pibasure. The site uses a spread of brokers across the country to provide car & house quotations. The site is .

As with any quotation, particular details will suit particular insurers. Chartis were obviously the best for you but may not be for others - thus the importance of shopping around. We receive a lot of new business through the site & get a lot of thumbs up ;)

First Ireland are a brokers so dealing with them would be the same as shopping around, same channels as PIBASURE.

Tried Tesco and they came out a few quid more than the best 2, so in my search the best 3 have been:

BestQuote (Creane and Creane)
NoNonsense
Tesco

Broker was looking €1450 for my brothers insurance, QD came in at €570. A €880 saving. It sure does pay to shop around.

Assuming it's not a high performance car or something I don't know how anyone in their right mind would consider paying €1450 !!

Some provisional licence holders have no choice in the matter.

Oh of course, yes, but I took it from Time's post, considering the drop from €1450 to €570 that it was a full licence holder. Not too many male provisional holders insured for under the €600 mark I would have thought.

I wanted to stay with FBD, because they are good to deal with, but they were too dear this year. Happily, as it turned out, I was able to stay with them via their NoNonsense brand which was €180 cheaper than the FBD proper quote. Both 123 & AA were unable to quote for my car.
