I want to be declaired self employed.
I'm an artist and have left my job to return to it.
I need to sort out the tax end of things.
No idea what to do.
Any help would be great?
Thanks

Might be a little more difficult than simply arranging a tax-refund as it takes more than simply 'declaring' oneself to be an artist before that becomes a reality. Otherwise every "Observer of Public Buildings" (layabout) would claim to be an artist.

If you are seriously going to live by your talent and your creations it might help to contact The Arts Council of Ireland:- [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]70 Merrion Square

and ask about applying to the Aosdana for a "cnuas" bursary.

However to be eligible the bulk of your income in any year must come directly from sale of your art-work (not teaching or any other supplement) and tax and occupational status are defined accordingly. Good luck!

Thank you for that. I have contacted the tax office and they are sending out stuff to fill in. I did contact the web address you gave me.

Thanks for the help.
