Hi,

looking for something nice to do for/with 15 year old niece for her birthday. She's having a miserable time at the moment (junior cert coming up and all!) so would like to do something nice to cheer her up. Money is tight at the moment so nothing too extravagent. Looked up bowling etc but the prices are ridiculous and know she'd get bored after 20 mins of it or so. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

If you are in Dublin take her to Giddy Studios, a ceramic painting studio in Rathfarnham (near Marley Pk). My daughter (15), went there for her birthday and loved it. Different pieces to paint with a varieity of prices; the studio will fire them and a few days later you will collect the finished piece. They always come out really nice and she could date it and have it as a memento of her 15th birthday.

Why not allow her to have a sleep over in your place with three of her friends? Then have a girl's night in with the usual make up , girly dvd and maybe a pizza etc. either home cooked or take out.

Our only child is also going to turn 15 soon. Owing to the recession and all the economic problems my situation financial wise is completely devastated. Adding to the woes some of the things that he appreciates are rather costly too. We do not want to see him bearing an unhappy look on his birthday so any suggestions from all the experienced people would do me a great favour.
