tracing owner of proptery

hi..anyone know how i can trace the owner of a house that has been lying vacant for some years, i am thinking of making an offer on the place but cannot find the owner, its very rural and there are no neighbours near by to ask. geatefull for any advice.

Land registry should have a record and history for owners. They dont always have the last owner, as it is up to each person to register it. But its a good palce to start.
