Can any1 give a rough estimate as to how much it would cost for a standard 1.4 litre petrol car to travel 100miles? Assuming normal conditions and 1€ per litre of petrol?
 
Depends on driving conditions (stop-go traffic vs. free flow) and car efficiency among other things.

My 1.4 Golf does approx 6.8 lit/100km on free-flowing road, so scaling up to 100 miles, gives 10.9 lit.

Given your assumption of Eur 1 per litre, this would be Eur 10.90 per 100 miles.
 
thanks for the replies - was thinking about investing in a diesel voltzwagen golf say 1.8 or 2.0 litre - again how much per 100miles with this @1€ per litrle?
 
all cars come with the fuel consumption data so just work it out as jr showed you. Since every car is different, its best to work out each individually
