If you're thinking of buying a home exercise machine, I'd advise you to try out several in a gym first (most gyms will let you have a free trial session if they think you're going to join)
I was considering buying a treadmill a few years back, but I joined a gym instead. After a few weeks of using the treadmill, I was having knee problems, so I had to switch to the elliptical cross trainer. Turned out it was just the right machine for me and I love using it, but you want to be sure before buying that it's the right machine for your body. Who knows, a cross trainer might cause you to have neck/shoulder problems
We've bought a York home gym and a Kettler exercise bike from Argos, and we're very happy with both of them, (the bike in particular is very solid and well built) but unless you know exactly what you want, it might be better to go somewhere like VJ's near Blanchardstown so you can try out different machines
IMHO the elliptical cross trainers with movable arms give a pretty good arm workout, and would be well worth any extra money. Look for a machine with good smooth movement that is comfortable for your size and shape.
