Anyone use any of the pest control companies?

I have mice for some time but they are ignoring the mouse traps.

Can anyone recommend a pest control company?

We used a guy a few months ago when we had a problem with what we thought was mice. It was [broken link removed] 826 3860 . We would highly recommend them.

He came out at the appointed time. He correctly identified it as a rat rather than mice. He advised against rat poison as there was a risk that the rat would die in an inaccessible place and stink out the house for weeks. He set a trap which caught the rat. His €121 fee included coming back to remove the rat from the trap and disposing of it, but hubby did that himself. He suggested that the rat was coming in from a damaged drain leading to the public sewer and this was confirmed by a CCTV inspection of the drains. He was very helpful in talking to the builder about dealing with the drains and when to seal them. It’s a small company and seems to be a partnership and they are really enthusiastic about their job.

I had Rentokil come out to my house, the guy was very helpful, gave me loads of suggestions on how to keep the mice out. Clearly he was trying to sell me their services, but as I live rurally and mice just come with the location I didn't feel the need to start killing mice outside my house.

Based on his advice I mouse proofed the living area of my house and set some traps again. Result since then 1 or 2 mice caught each year ( as opposed to double digits). The advice came for free and he hasn't been bothering me since to buy their services.

As I am now starting the building work on my attic I may have to review the situation again, as there are clearly a lot of mice in the attic that didn't bother me , but clearly will bother me when I have bedrooms there
