Hi All
I've just received a letter from our developer (not personally addressed so obviously going out to every resident) stating that due to a lack of "labour resources" they will no longer be able to maintain the estate "in the prestige condition that it has remained in to date" (sic).
They recommend a resident committee be formed and a maintenance contractor be appointed.
I was wondering first of all where they stand legally on this. Is there a process of adoption by the local council regarding the maintenance of roads, street lighting etc? Where are the lines drawn regarding maintenance of communal areas by developer / council / residents etc? Is there a time limit for which a developer has to continue to maintain a development?
Any other advice on this topic will be greatly appreciated...
Mods - Please let me know if I can mention specifically the estate and the developer to which I am referring here... it may aid in clarity of answers if I can.
Rgds.
