Damaged Internal coating LeCreuset Pot: Would I die if I used it?

Hi everyone

I inherited a LeCreuset casserole with my house, which I reckon would set me back the best part of €100 to replace. Was delighted til I noticed that the internal coating is coming away in a small patch (2cm square approx) and exposes the metal. Would I die if I used it?

Thanks
Rebecca

Don't think so! The underlying base metal is cast iron, which will rust (slightly) so you'll probably enjoy an increase in your iron intake, albeit unintentional.

Instantly and in howling agony!

Seriously though its simply harder to clean but don't let the flaw inhibit your culinary extravaganzas.

Re: Damaged Internal coating LeCreuset Pot

When I used to work in one of the big department stores in Dublin, they had a Le Creuset rep who used to work 2-3 days per week, who was brilliant in advising people on renovating/repairing Le Creuset cookware. BT's, Arnott's and I think Clery's all do Le Creuset - if you want to re-enamel it, go in and ask when the Le Creuset rep is around next. Or you could email helpline@lecreuset.co.uk and see if they can help.

Clery's don't seem to do LeCreuset any more, Arnotts is your best bet.

We do some Le-Crueset stuff ourselves. I will speak to the rep next week and ask him if there are any problems. Send me a mail to info@kitchenfitters.ie and I will get back to you. We have sorted out some problems for people before like broken lids and the like.
