Payment protection on mortgages. Refund due?
With the latest mini-scandal in the news, this time with BoI taking top billing, can anyone state what the position is with PP on mortgages?
Are mortgage payment protection charges linked to the outstanding balance?
Before I cancelled my AIB std var mortgage payment protection I made a couple of extra repayments off the principal.
Is it possible they continued to charge the PP based on the original term?
Post script: Or is it based on the repayment amount?
So if you keep the repayment fixed at the original level the payment protection continues at the same rate.
The PP would have only lasted for 12 months if invoked.
